The Holocaust was one of the most effective forms of genocide the people of Earth have ever witnessed, and one of the bloodiest chapters in human history that must never be repeated. We must never forget those atrocities, thus we have the appropriate museums and archives to be revisited throughout the ages.
So then why must the Holocaust be brought up at the least likely of places: the 9/11 Memorial, which is scheduled to open at Ground Zero in four years?
The 9/11 Memorial is something that most of us Americans looked forward to when suggestions were brought up on what to do at Ground Zero which is currently empty and hollow. What most of us didn't expect was the "Museum of Freedom," a shameful farce that is angering those who've lost loved ones on the 9/11 attacks - that happened not because of the Holocaust or whatever problems the United States may have, but because of dirty Islamic terrorists who despise our freedom and because we are the envy of third-world cavemen.
According to a recent Associated Press report:
Relatives representing 14 family groups rallied at the site Monday to condemn plans for the International Freedom Center, which officials said would place the 2001 terror attacks in a historical context.
What the hell is all this nonsense about? The center won't bar criticism of the United States? Sorry to burst your bubble Mr. Tofel but the United States did nothing to cause the 9/11 attacks, a bunch of dirty Islamic terrorists did everything.
According to the International Freedom Center's Web site, the museum will "deal with the international impact of September 11," as well as such issues as segregation in America and the Holocaust (emphasis added).
"It doesn't belong at a memorial," said Charles Wolf, whose wife, Katherine, died in the World Trade Center collapse. "You wouldn't put a debate about Nazism and authoritarianism at Dachau."
Center President Richard J. Tofel said that while the causes of the Sept. 11 attacks would not be up for debate, the center would not bar criticism of the United States and its actions.
"Part of the way we celebrate freedom is to acknowledge that even the greatest societies in the world and those that have made the greatest contribution to freedom are not perfect," he said.
Segregation and the Holocaust are completely unrelated to what went down on that fateful Monday morning. In case anyone forgot, Jews and blacks are not second-class citizens nor victims of oppression. They along with whites and people of virtually every other ethnicity were murdered on 9/11 in the most integrated of fashions.
We weren't attacked because we "are not perfect." We weren't attacked because we once had segregation written into our laws. We weren't attacked because of the Holocaust. We were attacked because the Untied States represents everything they oppose. We were attacked because the knife-wielding thugs who represent the "Religion of Peace" while decapitating innocent civilians they call infidels can't stand that women are appreciated and Jews are allowed to live in peace.
And because we were attacked 3,000 Americans perished. They should be remembered, not the slaves of America's past. That's what February is for. Save the guilt for Black History Month. Save the Holocaust lesson for history class and the appropriate museums and dedications.
But the people responsible for the 9/11 Memorial could care less about what really happened. In fact the organizers of the International Freedom Center (IFC) have already expressed that they intend to take us on "a journey through the history of freedom." Along the way those who just want to see a tribute to the brave police and firemen who gave their lives saving fellow Americans will have to endure presentations on the evils of man, including the genocide of Native Americans and events that took place miles off our coast: the Soviet gulags cum the already mentioned Nazi Holocaust.
According to the Wall Street Journal:
While the IFC is getting 300,000 square feet of space to teach us how to think about liberty, the actual Memorial Center on the opposite corner of the site will get a meager 50,000 square feet to exhibit its 9/11 artifacts, all out of sight and underground. Most of the cherished objects which were salvaged from Ground Zero in those first traumatic months will never return to the site. There is simply no room. But the International Freedom Center will have ample space to present us with exhibits about Chinese dissidents and Chilean refugees. These are important subjects, but for somewhere--anywhere--else, not the site of the worst attack on American soil in the history of the republic.
I join the families in protest of the 9/11 Memorial. If we're not going to get the proper dedication to what really happened on that day in 2001 then we shouldn't get anything at all.
If you want to talk about the Holocaust and the evils against Jews then let's discus the Muslim countries like Syria that doesn't even recognize the state of Israel nor allows Jews entry into their country. Such hatred still exists, but Nazi Germany is long gone. Let's not lose sight of what's relevant.
The 9/11 Memorial is a joke. It's a sham. It cares not to recognize the true evils in the world today. It instead wishes to revel in the past and pretend America shares the blame with everything that is responsible for human suffering in the world.
It's time to revisit the 9/11 Memorial -the "Freedom Museum" and make some major revisions, or just scrap it all together.
